ASEANpreneurs Youth Leader Exchange 2008
What is the event? The ASEANpreneurs Youth Leaders Exchange (AYLE) is a week-long exchange programme organized by ASEANpreneurs, bringing together student leaders and entrepreneurs from all ASEAN-member countries. Hosted in each of the 11 countries on a rotating basis, this event provides an opportunity for delegates to visit ASEAN-member countries and learn their economic development and localized entrepreneurial culture. Some of the programme components include student paper presentations, panel discussions with prominent regional entrepreneurs, workshops, visits to successful local start-up businesses and dialogues with distinguished local leaders. Application is open to university undergraduates from any of the ASEAN-member nations, namely, Brunei Darrusalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.
When is it going to happen? The event will be held on 15-20 May 2008.
Where will it be held? Singapore will proudly host the First ASEANpreneurs Youth Leaders Exchange Programme. Delegates will be provided with accommodation in halls or residences located within the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus. The Organizing Committee’s operational headquarters is located at the NES House. Most of the daily activities will be conducted at the NUS Business School while the rest will be held off-campus.
Why is it significant to conduct this event? The aim of this exchange is to officially launch the ASEANpreneurs: The Youth Leaders Network by bringing together entrepreneurial student leaders around the region and inspiring them to take action and become advocates of ASEAN entrepreneurship in their respective countries. Through this programme, we hope to empower these leaders with the skills and knowledge, to ultimately strengthen economic integration, cooperation and growth among ASEAN-member countries.
Who are involved in this event? The organizing team is the first batch of the ASEANpreneurs Core Committee, consisting of students from the NUS Entrepreneurship Society, who are also founding members of ASEANpreneurs: The Youth Leaders Network. Each ASEAN-member country will send two delegates, preferably young entrepreneurs and/or leaders of their university’s enterprise clubs, to participate in this exchange programme.
